After 42 years of sugar cane farming, we sold our farm in 2002, whilst retaining our farming interests at Komatipoort and Malelane, in Mpumalanga.

We retired to our beach house, at Sheffield Beach, on the KZN Natal North Coast, which we have had for 30 years. After several years of idleness, we decided to build 2 self catering cottages, on our adjoining beach front property.

We are ably assisted by our maids Rose and Sholipi, who provide the daily service facility.

The site was a difficult one and took a year to drain, level and stabilise before building could commence. We designed and built the cottages ourselves and they were finally completed in December 2007, when we had our first guests.

We have tried to recreate the feel of the traditional old 'beach cottage"- a simple yet comfortable place to spend time at the beach. Judging by the reaction and very favourable comments received by all who have stayed here, we have succeeded!
